Uber Reserve Grows 3X in India, Dominates Airport Drop-Off Segment

Gurgaon: Uber Reserve, the pre-scheduled ride service from Uber, has emerged as a preferred travel choice for Indian commuters in 2024, with bookings increasing nearly 200% year-on-year.

This surge underscores growing consumer preference for reliable, planned travel experiences in an era of increasing urban mobility demands.

According to Uber’s latest report on 2024 mobility trends, airport drop-offs remain the dominant use case for Uber Reserve, accounting for nearly 40% of all Reserve trips, as travelers seek dependable transport for early morning or late-night flights.

Today, almost one in every four airport rides on Uber is booked through Reserve. Cities like Delhi, Bangalore, Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Chennai led the demand, with Chennai topping the charts in adoption rates.

Key Uber Reserve Trends in 2024:

  • Airport commutes made up 40% of all Reserve trips

Popular Reserve time slots included 4–6 AM for airport travel and 7–10 AM for office commutes, with an average lead time of 9 hours per booking. One notable booking was made a record 89 days in advance, showing the trust users place in the feature.

“Riders are telling us they want control, flexibility, and peace of mind. Uber Reserve is enabling just that- be it for a business meeting, a holiday, or a family gathering,” said Shweta Mantri, Head of Rider Verticals, Uber India and South Asia. “This product is becoming integral to how India plans its mobility.”

Uber for Business contributed significantly to Reserve’s rise, now accounting for 10% of total Reserve bookings, reflecting the growing reliance of professionals on pre-scheduled, dependable transportation.

With use cases expanding beyond just airport travel to include festivals, weddings, exams, and intercity plans, Uber Reserve is poised to shape the next phase of India’s urban mobility by putting planning, reliability, and peace of mind at the center of the experience.
